HISTORY
The Triple "R" Ranch was started in 1986 as a cattle ranch and purchased by Ron Ross in 1996. At that time, Ron changed the primary function of the ranch from a cattle ranch to an exotic game ranch. Over the course of the next two years, he installed 2 1/2 miles of 8' game fence, three additional ponds, hunting stands and feeders, shooting ranges, trails, and several other sporting activities.
The ranch is located 1 1/2 hours north of Dallas, Texas, near the Red River separating Texas and Oklahoma. The 100-acre ranch is home to a small herd of Texas Longhorns, several Arabian horses, and over 150 deer including Axis, Fallow, Red and Native Texas Whitetail, and Black Buck Antelope. The Ranch includes stocked bass and catfish ponds, hunting facilities, and an array of other activities including skeet shooting, horseback riding, basketball, horseshoes, putting green, and over 3 miles of trails used to observe the Ranch's game. The Ranch also has a winery where you can taste wines while seeing how wine is made. The ranch winery specializes in reserve reds aged 18 months to 2 years in french oak barrels. The winery produces 2000-2500 cases per year.
The Ranch deer are fed corn year-round from three rotary feeders twice daily. They also feed anytime from two 1,000 lb. and two 3,000 lb. bulk feeders containing Ralston-Purina 20% protein pellets. Four heated towers, one ground, and one archery stand are available for hunting and/or photography. The cabin can sleep six-eight people comfortably providing ample space for recreation, dining and meetings.
All visits are pre-planned with Ron and Deanna Ross so that your hospitality needs and activities run smoothly once you arrive.
CARETAKER
Chuck Golike has been caring for the ranch since 1992. He and his wife, Lois, live in the Caretaker's home near the entrance to the property. Originally from the Midwest, Chuck and Lois have been ranching for nearly 50 years. Chuck retired as foreman from a large ranch near Reno, Nevada, and moved to Texas in 1986. Chuck is our guide and is available to set up activities, answer questions, and resolve problems.
